On October 1, 2021, guest artist, Lusie Cuskey, an assistant faculty member of Theatrical Intimacy Education, delivered a workshop with our cast of Heathers The Musical. Campus members were invited to observe the workshop and participate in a Q&A session afterward.
Theatrical Intimacy Education empowers artists with the tools to ethically, efficiently, and effectively stage intimacy, nudity, and sexual violence.
Lusie Cuskey is a visiting assistant professor of theatre at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL. She recently graduated with her PhD in Theatre Studies from the University of Kansas. Lusie has worked as an actor, director, teaching artist, and technician in KY, NY, KS, OR, and throughout the upper Midwest. Her research interests include queer musical theatre and performance pedagogy, including intimacy education.

Directing workshop with Kimberley Rampersad, Associate Artistic Director of world-renowned Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Acting credits include: The Stratford Festival and the Shaw Festival of Canada. Two-time Dora Award winning choreographer, Sterling and Merritt Award winner for Outstanding Direction of a musical, and winner of the 2017 Gina Wilkinson Prize for an emerging female director (Ontario Arts Foundation).

Directing workshop with Pirronne Yousefzadeh, Director, writer, co-founder of Maia Directors, and the Associate Artistic Director and Director of Engagement at Geva Theatre Center. She has a passion for new work that centers and uplifts the stories of global majority communities and has developed and directed work extensively regionally and in New York City.
